Wedding Nightmare?
This past Friday I was working from home building an album for a client when I decided to take a short “Facebook Break” – π
At the top of my newsfeed I saw a post from a very talented make up artist that I photographed a few years ago. Her post expressed a very sincere concern for her dear friend who’s wedding photographer did not show up to photograph her big day. Her First Look was scheduled for 30 minutes from the time I saw her post and her photographer was MIA. My heart sank when I read Erin’s post and I immediately called her. I asked her where I needed to go to help and told her I would be in my car in the next 30 seconds. I canceled appointments, grabbed my gear, and jumped in the car to head to their wedding at Wedgewood at The Retreat in Corona.
After sitting in an hour of traffic trying to get to this couple I finally arrived feeling a bit nervous. I had no idea what I was about to walk into. A frantic, stressed out bride? An angry groom? Frustrated wedding party? I told myself it didn’t matter – I just had to keep a smile on my face, and do my best for them. I had never met this couple before and didn’t even get to speak to the bride before showing up. As I turned the corner with my gear in hand I heard a bridesmaid call, “Are you Brianna?” I smiled and replied, “Yes!” And was greeted with a round of sighs of relief from the bridesmaids and the bride herself. I pulled out my camera and started photographing them immediately.
I could not have shown up for more gracious, kind, lovely people. Nia and Noel had so much love for each other and so much excitement for their day that they chose NOT to allow this major hiccup to ruin it. They were all smiles and love all day. It was such an honor to be able to show up in their time of need and capture the most important day of their lives. I am so thankful that I saw Erin’s post! Congratulations Nia & Noel! Enjoy this little sneak peak.
I used the same song that the wedding party did their recessional to because – well… it’s awesome. The song is “Meet Me at the Altar” by Jagged Edge.

Dear Brianna,
Hello, I am one of Nia’s thankful bridesmaids, and I just want to reiterate our gratefulness for your action to step up for my dear friend! All of the ladies were talking in the locker room about how much we really liked you not only because you literally swooped in to save the day, but you worked so efficiently and with a cheery kindness! In addition, it was very comforting and admirable to know a person chose to step up and answer a call of need! Thank you for capturing my friend’s most special day! You were beyond fantastic, and I will definitely keep you in mind in the future!
Nothing but praise for you, Brianna!
Sincerely,
Joannes Pamatmat

Joannes –
Thank you so much for your beautiful message. Nia is so blessed to have friends like all of you. Bridesmaids can really make or break the way a Bride reacts to things that go wrong on her wedding day – and I was blown away at how calm and happy everyone was when I arrived. I was touched to see how well you all took care of your friend that day and helped her through this scary situation. You all put 100% trust and faith in me when I showed up and you made my job SO easy. Thank you and thank you to all of the bridesmaids for being so good to Nia and for putting your trust in me! It was an honor and a pleasure working with all of you! π β€

I’m a photographer too. I found out about this post from another photographer and what had happened. Wow… this has brought me to tears. You are such a gracious person and a lifesaver. Staying calm and what was a very stressful situation. An angel. The world needs more people like you.

Whitney – Thank you for your very sweet words. This turned out to be a blessing for everyone involved I think – myself included. My greatest hope is that it is a powerful message to pay it forward and help where you can. The world needs people who are just willing to lend a hand. Thanks again!
