Does anyone else out there get the chills every time they hear the song “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis?

In my opinion, the approval of same sex marriage in California has been long over due – but here we are… FINALLY! As a wedding photographer I am honored to be asked to capture love and document the most important day in lives of my couples. To be able to expand my wedding photography horizon in to same sex weddings is so exciting for me. To know that some of my dearest friends get to legitimately marry the loves of their lives fills my heart with so much pride and joy.

Alexis & Katie actually have become dear friends of mine through their wedding planning process. They came to me after a negative experience with another photographer who made them feel very uncomfortable when discussing the fact that they are a same sex couple. We’ve been chatting for over a year about their wedding and their wedding photography. I feel like I have known these two for YEARS – but had actually never met them in person until this weekend. Since they are planning their wedding from Canada, the girls only have e-mails and phone calls with which to build a report with their vendors. Challenging right?? Once we all finally met in person for their engagement session it was like we had just seen each other the week before.

I absolutely adore these two. I am so saddened for the negative experience they had with another photographer, but am thankful that it brought them to me. I know I have made life long friends in these two and cannot wait to photograph their wedding next year! Alexis & Katie will tie the knot at Wedgewood at Vellano Country Club in 2015.
